Who is signed up on Kippo?
Founded in 2019 by David Park, Cheeyoon Lee, and Sean Suyeda, Kippo’s main goal is to help gamers connect with other games through their shared love for video games. The founders believe that the best way to interact online and get to know one another is to play video games together. It sure makes for a great ice breaker.
In over eight months since the app has been launched, Kippo has gained 45,000 members even without aggressive marketing campaigns. The predominant members are aged between 18 to 25, making the app’s member base a lot younger compared to others. It is also worth noting that 40% of the registered users are female.
It is also highly impressive that 93% of Kippo users go on virtual dates and play video games together before meeting in real life, effectively reduces the first date level of awkwardness. Ever since the lockdown due to the pandemic, the app’s activity has increased by 275%. This goes to show how dating is still possible even with social distancing measures in place.
